Alcatraz Island is located 1.5 miles offshore from San Francisco, California in San Francisco Bay.

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is operated by the National Park Service and is open to tours. Visitors can take a ferry ride from Pier 33, near the Fisherman's Wharf.

Also known as the Gateway to the West, and stands as part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, Missouri.
