Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge spans the Golden Gate, the opening to San Francisco Bay.

When it was completed in 1937 it was the longest suspension bridge span in the world.
The Golden Gate Bridge is the second longest cable suspension bridge in the United States behind the Verrazano Narrows Bridge which was completed in 1964. And the eighth longest in the world.

Specifications for the bridge are: Total length 1.7 mi or 8,981 ft, with a width of 90 ft and a height of 746 ft.

Designers of the bridge were Joseph Strauss, Irving Morrow, and Charles Ellis. The official color is orange vermillion also called international orange, despite its red appearance.
